Chief Judge Clint Hull is excited to announce that the Court Administrator's position for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit will be filled by current Deputy Court Administrator Andrea O'Brien.  After a national search performed by a search firm, O'Brien was selected to step into the position when the current Court Administrator, Douglas Naughton, retires in November 2022 after having served in the role since December 1983. O'Brien has served as the Kane County Court's Deputy Court Administrator for the last 14 years and says that she is “excited and honored to be selected as the next Court Administrator and that she looks forward to continuing her work with the judges and elected officials of Kane County to further enhance the justice system and help implement the Justice System Strategic Plan."

O'Brien earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Northern Illinois University in 1993 and her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire Law School in 1996. She was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1997 and practiced law in the areas of Foreclosure and Bankruptcy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She started working for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit as a Staff Attorney in 2000, and in 2008 she was selected as the Deputy Court Administrator for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit.

In O'Brien's new Court Administrator role, and under the direction of the Chief Judge, she is responsible for the overall management of the court's non-judicial operations and providing support for the judges of the circuit.

Chief Judge Hull praised O'Brien's past work, “Attorney O'Brien has earned the respect of the Judiciary, County Board, elected officials, and department heads through her years of service as the Deputy Trial Court Administrator.  I look forward to working with her as we continue to help the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit serve the citizens of Kane County."

Past Chief Judge, and current Presiding Civil Division Judge Susan Clancy Boles seconds the Chief's sentiments. “This is a great day for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit. Andrea O'Brien has served as an invaluable, hardworking and dedicated member of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit for 14 years as Deputy Court Administrator. There is no one better to assume the role and we are fortunate to have her."
