Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Meet Brownie

KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control. 1/28/2024 4:00AM

“Animals don’t lie. Animals don’t criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.” – Betty White, actress, author, comedian

His name is the same color as he is—brown. He could have been called Bailey or Max or something more macho, but his name is Brownie, because he’s brown from the tip of his ears to the white “socks” on his feet.

He’s a little over 1-year-old with a fairly large head and ears that flop over as he fixes his humans with an all knowing look. His countenance appears as though he’s about to say, “I know I’m handsome. I know I’m cute. I just don’t know why no one ever came to get me ‘cause I’m such a good boy.”

Found at a gas station, Brownie was a little underweight and a little standoffish at first. Given a bit of time, he can be extremely friendly. Whenever someone comes to clean his kennel or take him out for a walk, Brownie greets them with a big smile and a raucous “helicopter” tail wag where his butt wiggles and his tail goes in circles. Little by little he’s grown to enjoy being around people so much so that he actually wagged his tail to the point that the tip started to bleed from hitting it on his kennel wall.  Brownie1.jpg

When Brownie eats his meals he takes his time. No rush, Brownie. Take your time. You’re such a good boy! Let the food settle first.

He’s definitely curious about other dogs. He hopes he can have a brother or sister in his new forever home. Maybe they will teach him social cues and skills he hasn’t learned. No matter what, training is definitely in the cards for him.

Obviously, Brownie didn’t have a great beginning to his life. He either ran away or someone no longer wanted him, but Brownie is making his own way in the world. He would like to take his new family along on the “Brownie-train” as he learns and loves and becomes the best friend his family has ever seen.

All aboard who’s going aboard!
