The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) is reminding residents that help is available following recent reductions to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. These changes have delayed the amount of food assistance many families and individuals receive each month.
“We know that any reduction in benefits can cause concern for families who are already working hard to make ends meet," said Michael Isaacson, KCHD Executive Director. “Our goal is to make sure residents know where to turn for help."
KCHD encourages residents affected by the SNAP reductions to explore local food resources and community supports:
- Find a local food pantry or meal program using the KCHD Community Resources page.
- Contact the KCHD Information and Referral Specialist for one-on-one assistance connecting to local food programs and other community services. Call 331-312-0060 or visit KCHD Case Management page to request assistance.
Additionally, KCHD has compiled important immigration and mental health resources to help residents access trusted information and support. These resources assist individuals and families in navigating complex systems, ensuring that everyone in Kane County can connect to care, services, and community organizations that meet their needs.
“Access to nutritious food is essential for health," Isaacson added. “If you or someone you know is struggling to afford groceries, please reach out. We can help connect you to community resources."
