Halloween Event Offers Free Treats at Public Health Training Exercise

Kane County Connects Staff 10/3/2023 12:00PM

The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) will be handing out goodies and other treats during a
free Halloween event that will double as a training exercise for public health, first responders.

Operation Trick or Treat is scheduled for Friday October 27, 2023 at the Elgin Community College Gymnasium (Building J 1700 Spartan Drive) in Elgin, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

In addition to being a fun and safe way for families to celebrate Halloween, the event will serve as a valuable activity for public health officials who will be practicing mass distribution procedures using free treats for all attendees.

“Our mission at KCHD is to promote, protect and advocate for health and wellness in Kane County,
and key to those goals is being prepared to respond to health-related emergencies,” said Michael
Isaacson, KCHD Executive Director. “Part of that preparation is finding opportunities to practice how
we would respond should a county-wide emergency arise.”

Families are encouraged to come in costume and take pictures at a Halloween-themed photo station after collecting a variety of goodies.

“This event is a unique chance for the community to come together and have some fun while also preparing for an emergency,” said Cadence Griffiths, Public Health Emergency Response Supervisor.
KCDH encourages everyone to come out for a fun and educational evening.

Registration is preferred, but all are welcome to attend. Register
