Tammy Williams, Court Services Pretrial Officer, was selected as the Probation and Pretrial Officer of the Year by a majority vote of her peers. Ms. Williams is highly respected by management and her peers and has been with Court Services since 2017, she was promoted to senior staff in 2019, and has a genuine desire to help others. As a member of the Court Services Training Committee, she has authored an impressive collection of instructional resources. Her peers state that her training materials are invaluable and consulted daily.  Ms. Williams has spent countless hours of one-on-one time teaching her fellow staff members the ins and outs of the job, providing guidance, and instilling in them a “team first" mentality.  Her work ethic is truly a cut above.

Each year Kane County Court Services recognizes an outstanding officer who has contributed significantly to the field. Lisa Aust, the Executive Director of Court Services, said, “Tammy embodies all of the values of an effective officer, she is warm, genuine, and empathetic, but she is very serious about public safety. She works very hard to help the people assigned to her but also lets the court know if their efforts fall short. She's an amazingly hard worker. We're very lucky to have her."

National Pretrial, Probation, and Detention Officer Week was recognized in July 16-22. Court Services staff nominate six individuals for Probation Officer of the Bi-Month during the year and choose from those individuals someone to be recognized as the Officer of the Year. Ms. Williams is responsible for a caseload of roughly 300 individuals court ordered to be supervised during their pretrial release.  She is the longest tenured staff member of the Pretrial Services Unit. In 2022, she additionally received statewide recognition by winning the Distinguished Service Award from the Illinois Probation and Court Services Association.

Tammy was presented with “Probation and Pretrial Officer of the Year" before the Kane County Board on August 8, 2023 by Lisa Aust, Executive Director of Kane County Court Services.
