Addressing the County Board or Standing Committees

Kane County Connects Staff 7/11/2023 1:00PM

All meetings of the Kane County Board are open to the public, and public comment is accepted for both agenda (on-topic) and non-agenda items (off-topic). Meetings may, by state statute, be closed to the public in the event of discussion of certain items as defined in the Open Meetings Act.

Meetings of the County Board or Board committees are held on the second floor of Building A at the Kane County Government Center, 719 South Batavia Avenue in Geneva.

Meeting dates, times and agendas can be found on the County's website at www.countyofkane.org.  Meetings of the full Kane County Board and committees also are live streamed on YouTube at Kane County Government.

Individuals wishing to speak during committee or full board meetings can sign-up online here. On meeting days, sign-up sheets for agenda and non-agenda comments can also be found on the presenters' podium in the County Board room. The deadline to sign-up in person for public speaking is five minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

Those who are speaking on an agenda item (on-topic) will be allotted five minutes to speak while those speaking on a non-agenda item (off-topic) will be allotted three minutes.

Individuals who are speaking on-topic will be given priority to speak first, while those discussing an off-topic matter will have an opportunity to speak at the end of the board's agenda. There is also a time limit on the total amount of time allotted for public comment to 30 minutes for on-topic issues and 15 minutes for matters that are off-topic.
