Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Meet Fennec
“My sunshine comes from the love in my cat's eyes." – Christopher Hitchens, British and American author and journalist
In every sense of the play on words, she's a real “fox," but not the kind that lives in the wild. She's a cutie-patootie, an easy-on-the-eyes kind of kitten with her ears standing up straight from her little head. It's her kittenish features that make her…just adorable.
She stares almost unblinkingly at her visitors in quiet wonderment as her fly-away hair goes in every direction, making it look as though she just woke up even though she's been awake for hours.
At about 2-months-old with brown and black markings and a face that's too cute not to smooch, Fennec, a Domestic Medium-haired kitten, sucks you into her kitten-world faster than drinking a chocolate soda on a hot summer's day. With one look in her direction, the world's worries suddenly dissipate.
All at once, you're down on the floor, crawling along and shaking a wand with a piece of multi-colored cloth attached so the kitten can propel herself across the floor to chase it. If there are blankets anywhere around, she will use them as hiding places and burrow deep down inside them. Now, even though you are an adult, you're playing hide and seek with a kitten and having the time of your life!
Fennec came in to KCAC as a stray, but that hasn't stopped her from being a very friendly kitten. She seems to enjoy the company of other cats, especially her best friend Brisket. The two of them are quite the pair, especially when they're playing “tag-you're-it."
Then, there's always that part of the day when it's nap-time. And it's either burrowing under an available cover or just collapsing exactly in the same spot they're already in. Even kittens need to take a break once in a while so they can have the energy to play another day.
Isn't kitten-love wonderful?
