The inaugural Frida Fest will  be held in downtown Aurora on Sunday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The new event welcomes friends and families to spend the afternoon enjoying artwork, presentations, karaoke, and more. Located on Water Street Mall, there will be activities for all ages.

Frida Fest will celebrate the life of Frida Kahlo, a Mexican artist, who is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colors. Many artists will present their own work in the form of painting, song, and dance.

Special performances featuring Diego Trillo, La China del Bajio, Nancy Lopez, Sherlyn Padilla, Ballet Yetlanezi, Mitotiliztli, and Ballet Folklorico Yunuen also will be held.

Tacos, churros and ice cream will be available from local food vendors, La Michoacana Elit, Primos Tacos, and Juquilita Tacos during the event.

Frida Fest is hosted by Athziry Dia de Muertos, an Aurora nonprofit whose mission is to highlight Mexican culture and preserve traditions through events around Aurora and Chicago.
