The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) announces additional COVID vaccination appointments in August and September at the Kane Vax Hub, Batavia. The Kane Vax Hub at 501 N. Randall Road will be open and available for COVID vaccines on Tuesday September 20 for 6 months to 4-5 years of age by appointment only and Saturday September 17 for all age groups, age 6 months and older. Appointments are necessary for ages 6 months to 11 years.

For appointment availability, go to www.KaneVax.org. Individuals requiring assistance with appointments are encouraged to call the Kane Vax line at 855-4-KANEVAX (855-452-6382). To speed the check-in process, make sure to bring your vaccination card and a consent form for the vaccine you choose. Consent forms are available to download from KaneVax.org and KaneHealth.com.

In addition to the Moderna, Pfizer and Jansen vaccines, doses of the Novavax vaccine also will be available at the Kane Vax Hub. The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine was recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in July and is the first COVID-19 protein subunit vaccine. Novavax is administered in two doses, 3 to 8 weeks apart, for people 18 years and older.

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them. KCHD has identified more than 90 Kane County community partners that also provide the COVID-19 vaccine. An updated list is available online at KaneHealth.com.

Businesses and community organizations can request a vaccination clinic at their site through the Illinois Department of Public Health at https://dph.illinois.gov/covid19/vaccinationclinics.html.

For additional information and current updates about COVID-19, visit the KCHD website at KaneHealth.com or call the health department at 630-208-3801 and select the COVID line.
