Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Dodgeball

In the olden days, after the earth was formed, but long before the internet, video games and Wi-Fi, kids would actually go outside, ride their bikes, and play silly games at each other's houses.  

One of those games was called Dodgeball, which usually involved picking teams, standing in a line, and blocking the other participant's red balls that are thrown at you as hard as they can while you do everything you can to avoid getting hit.

It sounds fun until the fast-moving ball actually finds you, and you wind up with a welt that stays red for over a day or more. Just saying.

On the other hand, Dodgeball is also a cat that was surrendered to KCAC because the owner wasn't allowed to take him to his new apartment. Because his name didn't seem big enough, kennel staff decided to give him the name Dodgeball, not because he's a cat that inflicts pain, but because the name seems more fun. Does it, though?

​Dodgeball is a 1.7-year-old neutered Domestic Shorthair that has been with KCAC since the beginning of July. He is a mix of orange and white with golden eyes that gaze at someone as though he's interested in getting to know them. When he's happy, he will lie on his back and stretch his entire body, front paws over his head, as though asking for belly rubs.

There's nothing fast about Dodgeball. He takes his time getting to his feet from a session of belly rubs. When he rolls over, he moves in slow motion until he's staring straight into your eyes, all the while asking for you to take a chance on him.

Dodgeball is a very talkie little guy. He has an opinion on just about everything and sees no reason why that opinion shouldn't be shared.

He seems to enjoy the company of other cats, perhaps a bit too much as he follows them around attempting to get into their business. The other cats let him know where their boundaries are and where his probably should be.

Dodgeball is a very sweet cat that once had a nice home. Since then, he's had to duck, block, and deflect just in order to keep all four feet underneath him and keep getting those belly rubs.

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee for dogs is $200 and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300 and it is $150 to adopt two cats.
