The Kane County Board has proclaimed Volunteer Appreciation Month, recognizing the thousands of residents who generously donate their time and talents to improve the quality of life throughout Kane County.
County officials said volunteers play a vital role in strengthening communities, supporting public safety efforts, and helping neighbors in need through countless organizations, programs, and community initiatives. Across Kane County, individuals give of their time in a variety of ways — from emergency response and community events to food pantries, senior services, youth programs, animal welfare, conservation efforts, and civic organizations.
The proclamation specifically highlighted the work of volunteers with the Kane County Office of Emergency Management, who contributed 14,221 hours of service during fiscal year 2025. Those volunteers assisted with emergency callouts, planned events, traffic control, search and rescue operations and public education initiatives.
County officials estimate the value of those donated hours at nearly $488,000, helping enhance public safety efforts while allowing deputies, police officers, firefighters, and other first responders to remain available for critical emergencies.
The proclamation noted that volunteers often serve without seeking recognition or compensation, yet their contributions help make Kane County safer, stronger and more resilient.
By recognizing Volunteer Appreciation Month, the Kane County Board is encouraging residents to thank and celebrate the many volunteers whose selfless service helps improve everyday life across the county.
