Kane County Unveils New Emergency Mobile Command Post
Kane County has officially taken delivery of a new Emergency Mobile Operations Command Post, a custom-built vehicle designed to strengthen emergency response capabilities across the county.
Approved by the Kane County Board in 2024, the $1,517,540 vehicle was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and replaces the County’s aging 2006 command post. The Office of Emergency Management led the project, issuing a request for proposals before selecting LDV Custom Specialty Vehicles of Burlington, Wisconsin as the vendor.
The state-of-the-art vehicle will serve as a forward base of operations during large-scale events, emergencies and law enforcement activities, including crowd control and community safety operations. County officials say it will help law enforcement and emergency managers effectively manage and deescalate situations while coordinating multi-agency responses.
The mobile command post includes three distinct sections separated by pocket doors:
A conference area with seating for up to 15 people and a workstation.
A middle section with an equipment rack, galley area, lavatory, storage, and exterior entry door.
A workroom with five seated stations, space for a printer, and additional storage.
