Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Olive
“A dog is so often the answer—when you're lonely and need company, or when you're tired of company and need lonely." – Robert Brault, American freelance essayist & aphorist
The black patch around her right eye almost makes her look like a canine pirate. She has a nose that's “boop-able" and a silly grin that is welcoming and able to give slobbery kisses at the same time.
Her name is Olive, which seems so fitting for this 8-year-old white and black English Bulldog-mix found as a stray.
With an open, friendly and sometimes silly personality, Olive makes an impression on everyone she meets. Throw a stuffed toy for her to chase and it only warrants a cursory sniff from her. If, however, she spies someone she hasn't met across a room, parking lot or field, she will literally try to pull whoever is walking with her towards the new person so she can receive all their pets and hugs. Fortunately, she's not that strong, so it's fairly easy to contain and calm her.

Olive isn't one to let her age hold her back from experiencing all the good things life still has in store for a sweet bulldog. In fact, she doesn't see her age as a disadvantage at all, especially when she gets the opportunity to meet other canines.
She likes the company of other dogs, especially if they reciprocate her “getting-to-know-you" overtures. Once she's sniffed them and confirmed they don't pose a threat, she will walk along side of them as though she's known them forever.
Olive is so willing to offer all of the love she has to a family that will take her age and bumps and lumps in stride. She is so ready to find that loving home to call her own.
Are you ready to share in her best days yet to come?
