Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Root Beer
“A dog, I have always said, is prose; a cat is a poem." – Jean Burden, American poet, essayist & author, & animal welfare advocate
His coat is as pure black as the night sky during a storm. His personality as effervescent and sparkling as a just poured glass of cola.
When he ambles through the office at KCAC, the light occasionally glances off his fur, making his back and shoulders practically shimmer and gleam. He walks silently from room to room, going under desks, checking out cubbyholes in each area as proficiently as though he's an auditor checking inventory.
His name is Root Beer, a neutered male, black Domestic Shorthair with golden eyes. His age may be a guesstimate, although he doesn't seem that old, perhaps a year or so past kittenish.
Root Beer loves being where the action is, especially if there is a promise of pets to come. He loves people, loves getting tummy rubs and ear scritches. When you're in the room with him, he will rub against your leg until you're almost forced to pet him.
Handsome and beautiful at the same time, he is a feline with a gentle soul and an outgoing personality. When he finds his person in the crowd, he will stick to them like glue, making sure whenever they turn around, he is there!
Root Beer is more than just the flavor of the month, he's a definite keeper! Not bad for a cat rescued from a life on the streets!
