Kane County and The Conservation Foundation Partner to Bring Trees to New Homeowners

Sarra Hinshaw, Kane County Environmental and Water Resources Department 2/9/2026 11:00AM

Kane County is partnering with The Conservation Foundation to help bring more trees into residential neighborhoods. This program, funded by Nicor Pillar grant, connects new homeowners with native trees and shrubs while supporting the county’s goal of increasing tree canopy.

Trees provide numerous benefits for communities and homeowners. They help manage stormwater, reduce localized flooding, cool the surrounding environment to lower energy costs, improve air quality, support wildlife and even increase property values—making them a long-term investment for neighborhoods.

Realtors can play a key role in the program by sharing information with new homeowners.

Realtors interested in participating can contact Sarra Hinshaw at 630-208-8665 or hinshawsarra@kanecountyil.gov.
