Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Katara
“A dog wags its tail with its heart." – Martin Buxbaum, American poet, author, editor
“Okay, Katara, look up here and give a great big smile! Say cheese!"

The only way Katara, an 8-month-old spayed cream and black female Great Pyrenees-mix, knows how to pose for her photo is by putting her whole self into the process. She wants to make sure the photographer catches her tongue lolling out of her mouth as she gives the biggest smile she can possibly muster.
Nothing about Katara is small or insignificant, including her way of greeting the world each and every day. She definitely is a great big bundle of happy canine soul that craves a lot of love and cuddles.
Brought in as a stray along with another Pyrenees-mix, Katara has a short attention span which is probably one of the biggest challenges her new parents may have. Getting her into training classes with other dogs and their owners will prove beneficial for everyone, especially as she becomes more comfortable walking on a leash.
All the smells, the people and then so many toys to play with on top of that! How can life be this good? Katara really loves soft toys, especially larger ones she can pull, throw, catch and then do it all over again! She also seems to get along very well with men, women and other dogs that are also laid back.
More than just about anything, however, Katara enjoys getting pets from staff. She will literally walk away from playing with another dog just so a staff member can pet her belly. Just imagine settling in for a night of watching the latest streaming series or movie along with Katara as she spreads herself next to you on the couch.
Now that's a picture that needs no words at all!
