Way to go, Kane County.  A countywide cold weather clothing drive led by Kane County Government has delivered an outpouring of generosity to benefit Maddie’s Mitten March, a local charitable organization dedicated to helping neighbors stay warm during the winter months.    Maddies Mittens.jpg2.jpeg

Over the course of three weeks, five donation sites across Kane County collected four full pickup truckloads of coats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, and other winter essentials for people of all ages. Many of the donated items were brand new.

“We’re so grateful for the community’s support during this year’s cold weather clothing drive with Kane County,” said Mark Bozik of Maddie’s Mitten March. “We collected carloads of donations, helping us continue our mission to make sure no one has to face the winter without something to keep them warm.”    Maddies Mittens.jpg3.jpeg

The impact of the drive is already being felt. Since October 1, Maddie’s Mitten March has distributed more than 5,400 pieces of winter clothing throughout the community.

Maddie’s Mitten March began when Maddie was just 10 years old, after she noticed some of her peers going without proper coats and mittens during the winter. What started as a small act of compassion has grown into an ongoing mission to help those in need while inspiring others to identify challenges in their own communities and take action.

Kane County extends a thanks to all who donated and a special thank you to the Kane County Clerk’s Office, Kane County Regional Office of Education, Kane County Health Department, and Elgin Township for hosting donation sites and helping promote and collect items for the drive.
