​Gary Erickson Honored for Four Decades of Service to Kane County

The Kane County Board recognized Gary Erickson for 43 years of dedicated service to Kane County and congratulated him on his retirement.

Erickson spent more than four decades supporting Kane County Government's operations, technology and public service mission. During his career, he held numerous positions within the Kane County Information Technologies Department, becoming an integral and highly valued member of the county's technology team.

Over the years, Erickson contributed to and helped manage numerous major technology initiatives, including infrastructure systems, financial systems, the relocation of 911 operations, the decommissioning of the county's mainframe environment, the advancement of microcomputer systems, and the consolidation and modernization of system platforms and technology services.

Erickson concluded his career as Kane County's Chief Information Security Officer, becoming the first dedicated information security officer within the Information Technologies Department. In that role, he helped establish an important foundation for the county's cybersecurity program.

He worked to protect Kane County from evolving cybersecurity threats, strengthen the security of the county's computing environment, and develop and implement information security policies, plans, standards and practices that continue to guide and protect county operations.

The Kane County Board expressed its sincere appreciation for Erickson's professionalism, institutional knowledge, commitment to public service and willingness to adapt and lead through more than four decades of technological advancement.

The Board congratulated Erickson on his retirement and thanked him for his many years of service, wishing him continued happiness, good health and fulfillment in the years ahead.
