Looking for some Halloween fun? Communities across Kane County are hosting trick-or-treating, costume contests, family activities and spooky events throughout October. Check out these local happenings:




Saturday, Oct. 17

Halloween in Algonquin
4–6 p.m. | Towne Park, 100 Jefferson St., Algonquin
Halloween in Algonquin returns with a new location this year. Families can enjoy an afternoon of tricks, treats and family-friendly activities. Admission is free.

Witches Night Out
5–8:30 p.m. | Batavia Boardwalk Shops
Get into the Halloween spirit with live tarot and oracle readings, a witch costume contest, pop-up vendors, special sales and more. The first 50 participants can enjoy magic bag trick-or-treating. A ticketed Candle Magic Workshop will be held from 4–5:30 p.m.; registration is required.

Sunday, Oct. 18

Montgomery Halloween Safety Event
10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Montgomery Police Department, 10 Civic Center Ave.
Families are invited to a free Halloween safety event featuring games, activities, safety education, raffle prizes and a costume contest. Costumes are encouraged.

Burlington Trunk or Treat
4–6 p.m. | Burlington Fire Department
Bring the family for an evening of Halloween fun at the Burlington Fire Department’s Trunk or Treat.

Saturday, Oct. 24

Halloween Party in West Dundee
Noon–3 p.m. | Grafelmen Park, West Dundee
Enjoy kid-friendly activities, trunk-or-treat, a costume contest, fall refreshments and pumpkin decorating. Bring a donation for the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry to participate.

Historically Haunted Car Show
9 a.m.–3 p.m. | Dundee Township Historical Society
Check out vintage and classic cars at the 5th Annual Historically Haunted Car Show, featuring trophies, raffle prizes, concessions and local history exhibits. Cash only.

BatFest 2026
10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Peg Bond Center, 151 N. Island Ave., Batavia
Enjoy family-friendly activities, live performances and local business booths. Downtown trick-or-treating runs from 10 a.m.–noon, followed by human and pet costume contests. The event is free.

Boo Bash
Noon–2 p.m. | North Aurora Riverfront Park
North Aurora’s new community trick-or-treat event will feature more than 25 local businesses and organizations, costumes and pumpkin painting and carving contests. Admission is free.

Tuesday, Oct. 27

Elgin Police Halloween Extravaganza
5–7 p.m. | 151 Douglas Ave., Elgin
Enjoy candy, a trick-or-treat tour, community partners and a special visit from Darth Vader. Costumes are encouraged.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Halloween Storytime & Costume Parade
10–10:45 a.m. | Messenger Public Library, 113 Oak St., North Aurora
Children ages 0–5 and their caregivers can enjoy spooky stories, songs and a costume parade around the library. The event is free.

Friday, Oct. 30

City Hall-O-Ween in Aurora
3–5 p.m. | Wilder Park, Aurora
Enjoy an afternoon of candy, music, giveaways and Halloween fun for the whole family.

Huntley Square Trick-or-Treating
10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Huntley Square
Bring the little ones for trick-or-treating, treats and special promotions at participating businesses.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Carpentersville Truck or Treat & Spooky Sprint
9 a.m.–1 p.m. | Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave., Carpentersville
Enjoy a 5K costume run, Mini Monster Dash and Trunk-or-Treat for a morning of Halloween fun for the whole family.

Downtown Geneva Trick-or-Treating
2–5 p.m. | Downtown Geneva
Kids can dress in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat at participating downtown shops and restaurants. This free, family-friendly activity is a great way to celebrate Halloween.

East Dundee Halloween: The Vortex
7–10 p.m. | The Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee
Step through the Vortex and travel back nearly a century to the Roaring Twenties. Explore a traveling circus, Houdini’s Magic Parlor, a mad scientist’s laboratory, a fortune teller, silent film theater and a speakeasy.
