Kane County Animal Control Adoptable Pet of the Week - Pocket
“I have a cat, a stripedy cat with tickling whiskers and green electric eyes. She has the softest fur in the world. When I pet her, she purrs as if she has a drum near her heart." – Joy Harjo, 1st Native American to serve as United States Poet Laureate, musician, playwright, & writer
Imagine a kitten that is not only small enough to carry in the palm of your hand, but also has a Rocky Balboa mouth that makes it look as though he has that famous boxer's sneer.
That's Pocket, a 10-week-old (at the time of this writing) neutered male, brown gray and black Domestic Shorthair.
Pocket was not having a great life living out in the fields of Kane County. When he arrived at animal control, he had an abscess on his neck and was dealing with a jaw that didn't close quite right, sometimes known as a sideways jaw.
The good news is that his abscess is healing very nicely.
His sideways jaw is a feature that, although it doesn't seem to cause him pain, he may have to have fixed sometime in his life. He is able to eat, mainly wet food because hard food may fall out of his mouth where the gap is.

And his kitten smile is a little crooked, a little off-center.
In every other way, little Pocket is a typical kitten, one that goes all out when he's at play, chases anything that moves, falls asleep in places extremely inconvenient for everyone else and just seems to enjoy his life.
Due to his jaw issue, KCAC is listing his adoption fee as only $50 because, despite his sneer, little Pocket wants and deserves a home where he feels safe, loved and accepted for all that he is.
