Kane County Connects Staff 7/21/2022 2:00PM

The City of Elgin is hosting its "End of Summer Bash" on Friday, August 26 at Festival Park featuring a concert, food trucks and fireworks. These festivities were originally programmed for the City’s Fourth of July event.

The End of Summer Bash is free and open to the public, and it will kick off with a variety of food trucks vending after 4:00 p.m. on Grove Avenue between Prairie Street and Lake Street. A concert featuring the Modern Day Romeos begins at 7:00 p.m., and a stunning firework display takes place at approximately 9:20 p.m. All of the festivities take place at Festival Park, located at 132 S. Grove Avenue in downtown Elgin.

“We are so glad that everyone was available and willing to come back to Elgin for this celebration,” said Kate O’Leary, special events coordinator. “This event is full of things to do in one of our beautiful riverfront parks and it’s going to be such a fun way to close out the summer.”

All are encouraged to come downtown early and attend the Downtown Elgin Farmers Market along Spring Street between Chicago Street and Fulton Street. Attendees should also bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the park in comfort. Food will be available for purchase from a variety of local food trucks and vendors until 9:30 p.m. Many of the participating food trucks and vendors are those that were originally slated for the Fourth of July.

Various street and parking lot closures are necessary to facilitate the fireworks display. South Grove Avenue will be closed between Prairie Street and National Street beginning at 3:00 p.m. National Street will be closed between South Grove Avenue and State Street/Route 31 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists will not be permitted to cross the National Street bridge after 3:00 p.m. Parking in downtown Elgin is free and a map of locations can be found at cityofelgin.org/parking.
