Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Meet Mothman
“Felines walk the line between familiar and strange. We stroke them and they purr, then in a trice they pounce." – David Wood, author, If Cats Could Talk, Professor of Philosophy, Vanderbilt University
In the grand scheme of things, he's just a small little kitten found as a stray living in a barn with his sibling. Two baby kittens, two souls huddled together for warmth, barely old enough to open their eyes.
His wide-eyed innocence coupled with his golden eyes immediately pulls you in to his personal space and suddenly, there is nothing else in the universe that exists except little Mothman, a 5-month-old white and brown neutered male Domestic Shorthair.
Cuteness overload hits everyone he meets. Adults who normally stay within reality stare blankly at each other, not a thought in their heads except, “This kitten is so adorable."
One might never guess that Mothman was extremely shy when he first arrived at KCAC. Over time, he began to trust the people who came to take care of him. He's now a fairly social kitten and will occasionally engage with whoever comes to see him, even playing with them a little.
His absolute favorite past time, however, is napping. All he needs is a comfortable, warm place to curl up and he's all in. He likes to rest his adorable little face on the arm of a chair or the side of a donut-type cat bed where he's in the middle and fall asleep.
He gets along well with other cats or kittens, too, even cuddling up with them during his mid-morning, middle of the day or evening naps.
Mothman is one of the most laid-back kittens residing at KCAC. On occasion he will chase a feather at the end of the cat fishing pole, run down the hallway after a toy mouse or bouncing ball, but it's getting petted and sleeping that makes him the happiest.
