Kane County to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

Kane County Connects Staff 1/16/2026 12:00PM

Kane County will join communities across the nation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States on July 4, 2026, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s history.

The Kane County Board has issued a proclamation recognizing the semiquincentennial, honoring the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which asserted the American colonies’ freedom from British rule and laid the foundation for democracy and self-governance.

As part of the nationwide commemoration, Kane County residents are invited to participate in educational programs and celebratory activities leading up to Independence Day.

On July 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., Americans across all 50 states and U.S. territories will simultaneously read the Declaration of Independence, and Kane County will take part in this historic event.

The proclamation also highlights Kane County’s own milestone, as the county celebrates its 190th anniversary in 2026.
