Flags at Half-Staff for Former Gov. Jim Edgar

Flags covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act, including those outside Kane County Government buildings, have been ordered to fly at half-staff in honor and memory of former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, who passed away on September 14, 2025. Flags will be flown at half-staff until his interment. 

Former Governor Edgar will lie in state on Friday, September 19 in the Rotunda of the State Capitol Building in Springfield. Visitors may pay their respects from 3:30  to 7 p.m. that day. Services are planned for Saturday, September 20 at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Springfield.
